Altar Server Reminders PDF Print

February 1, 2012

Hi Altar Servers,

Please send me your March preferences and availability as soon as possible so I can take it into consideration when preparing the March schedule. Also if you know what your Spring Break plans are, please let me know as soon as possible so I can start working on the Holy Week schedule.

*Please read the important reminders below and make sure you remember to follow them at your scheduled mass. It is also important that you talk amongst yourselves before mass so you know who's doing what and everything will go smoothly. Remember, the best altar servers are those who do not draw attention to themselves while serving.*

Please arrive 15 - 20 minutes before mass.

The cross bearer should bow right at the foot of the steps to the altar.  Some of you are bowing just past the first pew.

Important reminder - To the altar server assigned to bring up the sacramentary to the presider, please hold the book with your fingers curled at the bottom of the book.  The new Roman Missal is big and heavy.  Please do not balance the book on the palm of your hands - not only will this make the book feel heavier, it will also be in danger of falling out of your hands.

Please continue to observe the proper dress code - dress shoes and pants for the young men (no sneakers or jeans, please); Ladies, please tie back your hair and don't wear heels, so there will be no danger of you slipping or tripping.

Please take the time to go through the attached Altar Serving guidelines as a review of what your responsibilities are.

If you are not available on the day your are scheduled, it is your responsibility to look for a substitute.  I have enclosed a listing of all our current altar servers with their contact info for your convenience.  If you don't get a response to your email request, try calling them on the phone.

Thank you for your dedication to this ministry.

Regards,

Maricel
